 State Championship at UW Oshkosh

The MSCC attended UW Oshkosh this weekend for the annual State Championship, run by the IAC.  It was a well run & fun event, with nearly 500 players in attendance!!

K5

  • Emmett was our only player in this section and finished the day w/ 2 wins

K8

  • In this section Mason led the way with 4 wins and took a trophy home, tied for 6th place!  Mia finished the day w/ 1 win

K12 Varsity 1 Team

  • This was the first time in several years that we had enough HS players to field at team!  Our Varsity 1 team consisted of:
    • Board 1 - Andy
    • Board 2 - Luke
    • Board 3 - Anthony
    • Board 4 - Jack
  • It is a fun format where our team plays another team - head to head  on each board.  Points are scored for a team win and individual wins.
  • Our team went 2-2 on the day and took home the 6th place team trophy!

Great job by all today - it's a very long day with a lot of competition.  We played well and showed great sportsmanship!

WSCF Grade Level Tournament at UW Milwaukee

Our Muskego club brought 8 players to the tournament yesterday, held at the UW Milwaukee student union.   Final results are not posted yet, but will be available soon at the WSCF website.

There were nearly 400 players yesterday(!)  in 11 sections and the round times stayed pretty much on track.

Grade 1

  • Henri & Shivas played in this section.  Henri had 2-1/2 wins out of 5, and Shivas had 3, in his first tournament!  For such young players, they did a fantastic job!
Grade 5
  • Owen & Emmett were our players in this section.  Owen had 2 wins and Emmett had 2-1/2.  Both took good notation so it was fun going over their games!
