2023 WI State Scholastic Championship results!

Last weekend our club brought 9 players to UW Oshkosh Reeve Union to play in this statewide event that was very well run by the International Academy of Chess.  It was a huge event w/ well over 500 players over 4 sections that lasted for 6 matches over 2 days.

We had a lot of fun and our players represented their schools and our club very well!

K5
  • Mia and Sawyer played in this division.  Mia took 2-1/2 points and Sawyer took 4, finishing 15th (out of 105 players) and just missing the trophies
K8
  • Evelyn had 2 wins, as did Dean.  Anthony took 4-1/2 and finished 16th (out of 139 players), just missing out on trophies, but still had a great tournament
JV
  • Quinn took 4-1/2 and finished in 9th place (out of 116) and continued his high level of play over the past few tournaments!  Josh took 3 points (2 wins and 2 draws).  Luke took 4-1/2 points in one of his best recent tournaments, finishing in a tie for 10th place, and Andy took 5 points (4 wins and 2 draws) and finished in 7th place!
  • The team of Andy, Luke and Josh tied for a 6th place team finish!

It was nice to once again see our club represented well and playing well in such a big tournament!

Grade 6
  • Mason was our only player in 6th grade although he was joined by his friend Austin who will hopefully join next year?  Mason had a good day with 3 out of 5 wins!
