University School Milwaukee - IAC Tournament

We brought 9 players to the USM tournament on Saturday - for 5 of them it was their first tournament which is awsome!

It was a well run tournament by the IAC and our players did a great job!

K8 rated

Mason was our only player in this section, but this was his break out day and he dominated!  He went 5-0, taking home the first place trophy!!  In the process, he beat 3 players above his own rating level and will easily get the purple wristband!  Way to go Mason!

K8 non rated

For 4 of our 5 players this was their first tournament!  I was impressed with how well they adapted and took good notation!  Everyone demonstrated great sportsmanship and I'm confident their skills improved because of this tournament!

Henri is in first grade in his first tournament and got two draws!  Dominic had two wins, Jace has three and Will also had three, taking home the 7th place trophy!  For those three it was their first tournament!  Mia played some strong games, taking 2-1/2 out of 5!

K12 rated

Kudos to Emily for playing in her first tournament!  This is a very competitive section to play in for anyone, let alone the first time!  Jack had a good day with 2 of 4 wins, and Luke had another very good tournament with 3 of 4 wins and took the 5th place trophy!  Together the group took the 3rd place team trophy!

Next up -  Muskego Melee at Lake Denoon on Dec 7th!

 Medical College Tournament

This weekend we attended the IAC-run tournament at the Medical College campus in Tosa, which is always a nice event and a good fundraiser.  It was a smaller group - about 40 players - but still very competitive.

We brought 5 players to this event:

Mia and Eric played in the K8 not rated section.  Eric took 5th place and Mia took 4th and together they took the 2nd place team trophy for Lake Denoon

Anthony, Jack and Luke played in the K12 USCF rated section.  Anthony took 5th place (tie breakers all the way to 2nd) with 3 out of 4 wins.  Jack took 8th place with 2 out of 4 and Luke had 1 out of 4.  Together they took the 2nd place trophy for Muskego High School. For a smaller section (14 players) it was amazing how competitive it was!

Great job to all!
